Algorithm maths

Today we have been learning about algorithm maths. Algorithm maths is a strategy you can use to solve maths problems. We have created a digital learning object on what a algorithm is. Algorithms can be used for solving hard problems. Algorithm is quite easy to use when you are not sure what to solve, The HTO  stands for Hundreds, Tens and Ones. This has really helped me with my addition and my place value.

Who wants to be a Mathioneaire?

Today for our maths challenges today we have played a times table game called Who Wants To be A Mathionaire?. Each answer you had got right will make you climb up to reach $1,000,000. This Maths game was quite hard because there were a lot of hard times tables equations that were tricky for me to do. But besides that I had a lot of fun while playing this game because it can help me with more of my times tables. I would to thanks Mrs Anderson for giving us this game to help us with our maths. This really helped me with my times table. If you would like to play the game here is the link.

My Rugby Match against Otahuhu Leopards.

On Saturday was our second last game for the 2018 season. We played against Otahuhu Leopards. It was on of the worst games we have had this season. Unfortunately we loss because we didn't the work we do at training such as going up together as a team for defense and hold the ball tight. But not until it was the second half, our captain of the team told us to talk to each during the game to produce some good performance. But Otahuhu was just too good for us, 10 minutes before the game ended. I play number 10 ( Prop). Prop is one of the hardest possession there is in the game because you always have to  stick with the hooker so you have a run all the time. At the end the scores were 52 - 26. I only scored two tries to at least help my team out.

Food Tech

Step 5 - Pour all your meat in and bake 180 degrees for 20 minutes

It is the last week of the term meaning we will not learn anything for the nest two week (holidays). Today we cooked Meat Pies with Mrs Tuipolotu. It was interesting to see how people were cooping with challenges of cooking the meat pies because there were some onions that were over cooked and some of the ham was not cooked fully so they had to cook the ham for another 5-10 minutes. At the end everyone was happy of what they cooked and enjoyed their Meat Pie. We are looking forward to see what were going to cook for next terms sessions. I worked by myself because my partner was not here.

Here is the Recipe:

Step 1 - Dice the onion, ham, and mince

Step 2 - Fry the onion first, and then ham, and mince

Step 3 - Add the sauce, soya, sauce, and cornflour, mix herbs

Step 4 - Place the pastry on the round baking tin foil

Stormy Lighthouse

Today we did another collaborative challenge in our lighthouse groups. The challenge was to note down the positive and negatives of you living in a lighthouse in the sea. Each person from each group presented there notes to the whole class as Mr Johnston wrote them down on the board. One of the con things that my group discussed together was that if you were living in a lighthouse on a ocean and you ran out of toilet paper what would happen. One of the pro things that my group discussed together was everyday being a holiday because there was no school, work, or meetings. Above shows you the DLO that my group created together about the Pros and Cons of living in a lighthouse. I worked with Fraidon, Mele, Jack, and JayDon.

Lighthouse/ Ia Jument

We were asked to do a DLO on a lighthouse that is still standing tall off the northen western coast of France, Brittany. We just had to look at a website about the lighthouse. Theodore Mago was the person who lived on the lighthouse. As you can see their was a big loads of waves coming towards the lighthouse. The picture was by Jean Guichard who was in the helicopter that was going to save Theodore Malgorne. If you you want to know more about the story go to this website. I enjoyed doing this DLO and also reading the story behind because it is very interesting.

ASB Getwise

Today we had Jayden from ASB who came to talk to us how saving money is very important in our lives. To help us perceive the message that saving money is important Jayden created a game where we were splitted into 5 groups and pretend we went to Fiji. We had a budget of $1,800 and was to spend it wisely on before we went to Fiji like our passport, the flights, accommodation, Insurance and the money were going spend at Fiji for things such as food, groceries, and activities (like swimming with the sharks). There were a range of choices for some of the subjects such as flights had two prices. One price was $200 where you are in a seat that's uncomfortable or a flight for $700 where you have luxury seat and also food ordered to you. Our group (which was group 2) decided to take the cheaper options than the expensive which was a good idea. I worked with Zane, Nyijah, Julian,Maritea, and sky.

Matariki Poster.

This week we did a poster with some of the LS1 students. We worked collaboratively to actually complete this task. The poster that we were creating was about Matariki. As we were researching through google we found out some interesting facts. Did you know that Matariki is the mother of her six daughters? These information came from our smart searching skills. We actually talked about what work we wanted to do. I chose to research some of the questions so that my group could understand the celebration of Matariki. I worked with Jaydon , Zane , and other 2 people from LS1.

All Chicago Sport Teams.

This week Mrs Anderson has returned from the United States and we heard all about her trip with Ms Kirk Patrick. As she went to Chicago Mrs Anderson asked us to create a DLO about the main sports of Chicago. The teams Mrs Anderson has chosen are the: Blackhawks (Ice Hockey), Chicago Bulls (Basketball), White Sox (Baseball), and the Cubs (another baseball). This DLO above talks a little bit about all the chosen sports teams and their home stadiums. My group and I all worked on one of the teams and we all finished on time. Everyone in my group had a team to write about.

Kahoot Maths

Today for maths everyone decided to create a different kahoots game for everyone. Kahoot is a video game that can be played with lots of people. You need to create a kahoot with questions so that others can answer them. You invite them by giving them the number code for your game. Today each group created kahoots collaboratively based on different type of maths questions. Today everyone got to try other peoples kahoots that they created. We all as a group had to contribute so that we can find the answer

.

M&M Presentation

This week for maths we have been researching about M&M's with Mr Johnston. In groups we were to create a presentation with facts and informative graphs about M&M's. I found this task really fun because we got to explore new things and get creative with our learning. Everyone worked collaboratively and did an even amount of work. Jack also did some great drawings that links to our information. After finishing our presentation we had to present it to the class. I think we did really well presenting, but next time some of us need to speak up. The most interesting thing I found out was that when M&M's were first made they didn't have an M on it

M & M Question Slide

This week for maths we worked collaboratively in our groups to finish our shared presentation. The task was to create a presentation with history about M&M's. In our google slides presentation we included the 2 graphs, interesting facts about M&M's, history of M&M's and our answer to the mars company statement. 2 of the interesting facts I found out that was really interesting to me was peanut M&M's came out in 1954 and over 400 million M&M's are produced each day.
