Victoria Era.

This week we have been learning about the Victorian era. The Victorian era was based on Queen Victoria's time. Our first activity was to choose one of the task from Victorian time and Ofa, Mataio and I decided to choose to research about the Children working in factories. We researched about this because we wanted learn how life was hard for children back in the Victorian times. I found out that kids who are age 5 to 6 and are skinny would have to climb to the chimney and clean all the yuck chemicals. In my perspectives we are lucky because back in the Victorian time if the kids spoke to each other they were smacked, but in nowadays we don't get smack for doing bad things in schools. Some of the kids doing the chimney sweep had rotten teeth because of the chemicals. After this activity we were to draw a steampunk which was based on the Victorian era. A steampunk is when modern technology is mixed with technology back in the Victorian times. I have drawn a owl that has a hat and a google that is on the hat. Our last task was to make a DLO based on what steampunk art is and facts about it as well. I really enjoyed all activity especially drawing the steampunk.

PBS Athletics Field Day 2018

Today PBS had Athletics Field Day. It was kindly set by some of the Tamaki College students. Their 9 different stations courses.  The activity we did was a game that was inside the hall where there can only be on tagger from each team. And you had to get as much as possible tennis balls to put back on your side. This event is about showing sportsmanship and teamwork. After completing those tiring 9 stations.. At 12:30 we had our sausage sizzles. And the end of the day the races were on at the track field. I hope will get a nice rest, because there were many of running around and noise.

Book Week Challenges - What signs are needed in a Library?

Today I did an DLO on what signs are needed in a Library. I chose wisely about important signs. The most important sign in my DLO is probably the No smoking. Because you have to think about the childrens that are inside the library. It can spread germs and disease. It can also make kids faint and sick. This is probably the worst way to get sick and get germs. All of these signs are needed in the Library to take care of our community and our Environment. I completed this on myself, because I can focus a lot better without anyone distracting and taking me off task.

Book Week Challenges - Alphabet Key - Authors and Books

As part of Book Week. We have this thing called the Matrix. Its where you choose any of the activity to do with a Buddy or by yourself. Today i completed an Alphabet key on Authors and Books. It was easy to find the picture books but it was very hard to find authors because there are not that many authors in the world. I worked on this on my own, because I knew it would easier to be focused on the work instead of getting distracted by your buddy.

Book Week Challenges - Facts about meercats

We had to make an DLO on Meekats. On this DLO i worked collaborativey with Jericho and Julian. All we had to do is research some facts about meerkats, and a image of an meerkat. What shocked is that Meekats Sleep and hunt together because i thought they hunt alone by themselves. I really enjoyed doing this activity because i really wanted to learn a lot more about meerkats.

CARE Award - Respect | Researching The Song Respect

Today I completed another task for my respect CARE award, CARE stands for Confidence, Attitude, Respect and Excellence and Innovation. For it I needed to research interesting facts about Aretha Franklin's song Respect. Along the way I found many new and interesting things like for example; the song's been used in the movie Forrest Gump, although I've watched it I never noticed the song

Tech Reflection - Decorative Letters|Names

We are three weeks into our new orientation at Tamaki College and we have finished our name art. They are different because we did them in decorative letters for example instead of writing an 'I' I did a candle. Mr Pineda (Tech teacher) has laminated it for us and they look great. I drew some patterns from my culture because it is my culture.

Tech Reflection - Charity Box Vocab Saying

For the past few weeks Ms Kirkpatrick's inquiry group have been constructing their bridges out of spaghetti pasta. In the beginning everything was pretty easy until the weeks started flying by and the assignment was nearly due. It was also difficult because of the limited supplies. The limited supplies forced all the groups to trade with one and other to get the project done.Zane,Coreef and I built a cantilever bridge that was only able to hold one brick. The original design was to difficult to execute so we simplified it. If we had added more triangles or cross braces our bridge would have been able to hold more bricks. The total span of our bridge was 42 centimetres making it the second longest bridge. Sanujan, Jack, and Jericho had constructed a bridge that was able to hold six bricks in total. It was hilarious to see the bridges break and some of the designs were amazing. Personally I think that we had the best looking bridge and was only rivalled by Nyjah's. This has taught me that we should always look at strengthening the deck and to never become an architec

Whare Hauora Blessing

Panmure Bridge School is the home of New Zealand's first Medicube. The purpose of this new building is to make sure that children are fit for school and that they get a sense of focus so that they do not worry about getting sick. Our nurses will carry on doing a good job and making sure we are healthy. Like every new building at Panmure Bridge School the Maori blessing took place early in the morning and as we are in kapahaka, we were asked to perform a waiata and represent our school. Our waita was He Honore which was a nice soft waiata that we sang to with just an acoustic guitar. We were all proud of our efforts and it was a honour to partake in this event. The Kaumatua went around the medicube blessing the building in Maori. We all followed the visitors into the medicube looking at the space the health nurses will be working in.

Note Making - Buildings and Structures

At the beginning of our learning of buildings and structures we wrote down what we knew about what they are and what their purpose is. The questions we were asked were what is a structure, who is involved what materials is it made out of, and famous examples. Their were a lot of famous examples as we hear about them fairly regularly. At the start we did not have a good understanding of what they are and we are now using that as foundation so that we can add more information.

Wheel Words - 10 minutes

Today we played a game of wheel words. It helps us with our learning and our thinking. It always help me with my vocabulary. And you can also learn and find new words. We had 10 minutes to try and figure out as many words as you can with the letter in the middles. My middle letter was E. I managed to find out 13 words all together. I recommended this game for little children to learn.

Tech Food - Hawaiian Pizza

This week Mrs Tuipolotu instructed us to construct our own Hawaiian pizza with our partner. To start, the first person received our pizza bread and spread the tomato paste on top of the bread. While they were doing that the second person then diced the ham, onion, and chicken. When everything was chop,  we spread all the ingredients on the pizza bread. But before we did that we spread the tomato pastry and lay it out on the pizza bread. Once we added all the ingredients we put it in the oven , to bake for 15 minutes, and the oven pre -
heated to 180 degrees.

Assembly - Samoan Language Week

This week I did the assembly presentation with two of my classmates; Alex and Angela. Angela and I were speaking the script in Samoan whilst Alex was translating it to English for the rest of the school. This was the first time I'd ran and assembly, I was scared and nervous, but I then realized that Alex, Angela and Mrs Anderson were there to support me. I tried not to screw any parts up, but I saw something wrong on the script, so I made something up. I would like to say thank you to Mrs Anderson and the school leaders for helping me set up.
